Tesco has announced that it's opening an online store of MP3 music, with all 3.3 million tracks DRM-free by the end of the year. Movies and TV shows will follow, says the supermarket

No aisle pun, but do you think they'll sell lower quality MP3s? Tesco Value and all that...?

I think its a great idea.
At the end of the day, un DRM'ed stuff if cheap enough will outweigh Piracy. I would rather pay a fiver for an album, then buy a copied one for a couple of quid. |

But its Tesco...
In a previous life I used to work in computer retail, and often people would come in with their dirt cheap, crap Tesco bought computer stuff and ask us to explain it to them/ fix it/make it WORK! - becase Tesco knew shit about computers. Always we would refuse and tell people to not buy your computer products in the same place as your beans. Not the same thing - but the comparasons are there.. Does Tesco have the expertese to make this service work? |

I don't think they need the expertise to make it work. Just a decent Delivery platform as well as a decent Software package to handle the orders etc
Yes Tesco's is crap imho I would never shop there whatsoever, however if their un DRMed tunez are cheap enough, of decent quality why not? I pay Napster at the moment for my tunez - and they are DRM'ed. |
