From broadcast...
ITV is to offer its archive on-demand over the web to international broadcasters in partnership with BT. BT Media & Broadcast has developed a digital content store for ITV's archive, based upon its BT Mosaic service. The service enables ITV to edit its programmes for distribution across a variety of networks and devices directly to consumers and other broadcasters, who will be able to edit programmes that fit with their local customs and laws. BT has digitised 20,000 ITV programmes to date and the broadcaster has initially offered series such as Inspector Morse and The Saint on a download basis through ITV.com. ITV technology director Richard Cross said the creation of the digital store would prepare the broadcaster's archive for further developments in on-demand programming. "It will enable ITV to reinvent its channels to market to reflect the way consumers – and other broadcasters – interact with content both in the UK and globally," he said. "The content store is the core platform that will enable ITV to flourish in the new, globalised, digital world." Last edited by ChunkyMonkey; 15-04-2008 at 04:01 PM. |

Lordy. Its a shitstorm of a different scale. Unless there is a serious overhaul of their design I can see them withering rather than flourishing...
