For my money -not that I actually have any- Virgin OD is actually a pretty good service. No limited content or time outs on shows after all. Basically, you can watch almost anything at anytime, the whole point of VoD anyway right? This means that when I get in at 3am and decide to watch every episode of 'Spaced', followed by 'Gremlins 2' then I can do it. I don't have to worry that the content has vanished into some I-Playeresque netherworld, or that I didn't record it because I'd filled up my space with old eps of 'Gladiators'. Sure I don't get SKY1, meaning I might miss the Colour of Magic or something, but otherwise its all gravy. (Of course, I mainly end up watching either Zone Horror or AAdult Swim whatever system I'm using, so maybe don't rely on my opinion too heavily.) Anyhoo, I'm going to open myself up for targeting and say that Virgin is a better system than Sky (Gentlemen,Fire at will), no worries about bandwidth either.

Yes, all valid points, but still...
No Sky One = No BSG. |

Yeah, but I tend to stop watching most major dramas after the first season anyway... mainly because they get re-scheduled..which isn't a problem if you have Virgin...

Or indeed, any download service that offers episodes...

Virgin is great if you are in a cabled street and there's low contention - otherwise it's really not for you. Sky is great for HD and TV content. Now that their broadband product is a bit more mature it's not bad at all - unless you live miles from the exchange Both have their issues and both have their upsides. But the one thing that marks Virgin down for me is their technology. It's just a rebranded Telewest box. Which is a HUGE FAIL - at least in my books.

I'd actually agree with that, Sky tech does have the edge, but that said I think Virgin has a better user interface-as an example, Sky often won't let you access the i button unless you are tuned to the channel you want info on, and the channel guide selection doesn't have picture in picture, which is annoying for the habitual browsers/ad-break avoiders among us. Also I reckon Sky has more currently broadcasting content, but Virgin wins when it comes to available archives, theres a ton of classic stuff lurking in there, and its all free-definitily a problem solver when you're stuck in the hinterlands of daytime TV and fancy a Black Books-athon instead.

and the Sarah Conner chronicles. If I want a Black Books fest I'll take it from iTunes thanks. And if the rumours of Sky's next version of the EPG are true, it'll blow away anything that's currently around.

But yeah, SCC is a massive loss for Sky. It totally fits the channels output. Who dropped the ball on that one? |

This has been bugging me a bit-no offense meant, but 'Virgin has trminator..If I want to watch Black Books I'll get it from iTunes thanks.., so, you have virgin, but if you want to watch Black Books (or whatever) you go to the computer and pay to download each seperate episode..even though it's available free, and instantly, on your TV...? I don't get it...
